Observe momentums that keep developing, and you will see one grain appear again and again: a direction taken to its extreme is often already gestating its own turning. The moon rounds and then wanes; the water rises and then falls; a fashion at its most flourishing has often already begun to gather its opposing force underneath. I call this grain: at the fullest, becoming returns—at its fullest, becoming is often the beginning of the turning, and this return may again become the beginning of a new round.
