# Freud（Psychoanalysis）

## Common research question

**Why did Freud regard dreams as meaningful?**

Freud treated dreams as interpretable because manifest dream content might transform latent thoughts through processes such as condensation and displacement. This does not imply a universal dictionary assigning fixed meanings to every dream symbol. The Interpretation of Dreams and later structural theory of id, ego, and superego belong to different phases.

## Interpretive boundary

Distinguish Freud's hypotheses from later empirical tests; cases are not automatically replicated evidence.
