## Common research question

**How do early and later Wittgenstein differ on language?**

The early Wittgenstein of the Tractatus examines how propositions picture facts and the limits of what can be said. The later Philosophical Investigations studies meaning through use, language-games, rules, and forms of life. The change is substantial, but it should not be caricatured as simply rejecting everything earlier.

## Interpretive boundary

Do not rewrite the Tractatus through the later notebooks; identify editorial status.
