Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger1. Person Overview

1. Person Overview

One-line placement: Heidegger continually asks “how the meaning of being and its manifestation are possible”; in the early period he proposes a fundamental ontology through Dasein’s being-in-the-world, understanding, temporality and disclosedness; in the later period he turns from the unconcealment and concealment of truth to the giving of being, the clearing and Ereignis. The later period does provide an ontological place for thought’s own speech and understanding, but this does not automatically establish “rightly recognizing being” as an endpoint that must be completed. Early authenticity, too, is mainly a mode of being in which understanding participates, not the same as an event of knowledge. His main task across periods is still to raise, clarify and transform the question of being, currently ③ “Inquiring into the Ground” (B); ①’s condition of positive inclusion has fairly strong local support, but the deletion of cognition from its structure of completion cannot yet be proven.

Most distinctive point: three different functions must be kept apart: Dasein’s primordial understanding / disclosure (an ontological condition), the understanding of its own possibilities in authentic resoluteness (a mode of being), and the philosopher’s rightly stating a theory of being (propositional cognition).

03 / 481. Person Overview
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger1. Person Overview (cont.)

That the first two bear load does not mean the third is a ②-type condition of awakened completion; nor can the later belonging-together of language and thought with being be declared ① on the strength of the word “giving” alone.

Core question: why has philosophy long studied only beings and forgotten the meaning of “is”? Why can Dasein understand being, why is truth first of all unconcealment, and why does time take part in manifestation? When philosophy’s own questioning is itself something that happens, where is the questioning placed?

Content status: the Chinese text for this figure has been settled after checking against the original texts; the textual evidence and boundaries of judgment are set out in each chapter.

2. Reading Note|Grades of Evidence and Judgment

This archive distinguishes “textual reliability” from “strength of structural judgment”: T1–T4 describe the authorial attribution, date, stability of transmission and representativeness of the text itself; A–D describe the certainty of judgments made from the text. A = stated directly in the original; B = a strong structural inference supported by several passages;

04 / 481. Person Overview (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger2. Reading Note|Grades of Evidence and Judgment (cont.)

C = grounded, but with an equally reasonable alternative reading; D = an objector’s stress test / a hypothesis awaiting verification. An A-grade original only guarantees that “this text states so”, and cannot automatically make a structural inference A.

Direction marks: support = supports the current six-position placement; limit = shows a functional mediation still bearing load or constituting a boundary; disputed = the text does not point one way; neutral = the text holds but does not constitute a core limit in the present deletion test. The mark on a single E card does not replace the overall structural argument.

3. Textual Scope and Method

Core texts: the author’s publicly released Being and Time §§1—83, On the Essence of Truth and Letter on Humanism collected in GA9, GA7 The Question Concerning Technology, GA14 Time and Being and The End of Philosophy and the Task of Thinking, supplemented by the discussions of language in GA12. The original texts are located by SZ section and GA volume / essay, and the Chinese is mostly locatable paraphrase; for the distinction of understanding / disclosure in §44 and §60—65, the corresponding German passages of Being and Time were checked separately.

05 / 482. Reading Note|Grades of Evidence and Judgment (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger3. Textual Scope and Method (cont.)

Contributions to Philosophy, GA65, serves only as posthumously published auxiliary comparison, not replacing the publicly finalized texts.

Detailed T1—T4 for this figure: T1: formal works, essays and final versions of lectures published in the author’s lifetime and locatable; T2: interviews / reliable self-interpretations revised in the author’s lifetime, and manuscripts edited posthumously whose attribution is clear; T3: unclear recordings, fragmentary posthumous papers or later editions with major variants; T4: later Heidegger scholarship. Most of the present E cards are T1; that a philosophical view can be stated at A does not mean that historical attribution or interpretive inference is also A.

Principle of transcription on the text cards: all E cards give the chapter of the original and a note on the authorial layer; the “proposition in the original” is mainly research paraphrase, and except where the original wording is marked and checked, it does not pass for a verbatim quotation. Electronic transcription is not the same as completed authoritative collation.

Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger4. Core Question and Structural Chain of Thought

4. Core Question and Structural Chain of Thought

Why has philosophy long studied only beings and forgotten the meaning of “is”? Why can Dasein understand being, why is truth first of all unconcealment, and why does time take part in manifestation? When philosophy’s own questioning is itself something that happens, where is the questioning placed?

1. The ontological difference: being is not any highest being or the sum of all things; “the question of being” cannot be filled in with a new entity.

2. The ontological priority of Dasein: Dasein in its being already vaguely understands being, so the enquiry starts from Dasein, which is not the same as making the human being the ground.

3. Being-in-the-world, care, being-with, mood, understanding and discourse are interconnected; the subject’s viewing of an object is not the most primordial relation to the world.

4. Anxiety, being-towards-death and authenticity reveal the structure of Dasein’s possibilities; authenticity is not obtaining a certificate of metaphysical truth.

5. Temporality interprets care and the understanding of the world;

07 / 484. Core Question and Structural Chain of Thought
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger4. Core Question and Structural Chain of Thought (cont.)

Being and Time did not complete the whole planned question of “time and being”.

6. Truth is rethought as unconcealment and openness; unconcealment implies concealment at the same time, and the later work refuses to see being as an object at one’s disposal.

7. The enframing of technology interprets the world as standing-reserve; poetry, language, thought and dwelling are proposed as another relation, not as a new technical method.

8. Ereignis and “there is / it gives” make the question of the belonging-together of human being, thought, speech and being more prominent, but the complete function-deletion test still has textual boundaries.

5. Original-Text Evidence Base

Note on the evidence base: T1–T4 concern the authorial / transmission / edition reliability of the text itself; A–D concern the strength of judgment. A means only that the original really says so; B is a structural inference supported by several texts, C keeps a competing reading, D is only an objector’s hypothesis.

Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)

Support / limit / disputed / neutral mean respectively support for, functional-mediation limits on, open dispute about, and non-core evidence for the present six-position judgment. The “propositions in the original” below are in principle Chinese paraphrases with sources; only short phrases explicitly marked in the original wording count as excerpts of the original.

E-01|Being and Time §1

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The question of being has been forgotten; although “being” is a universal, indefinable, seemingly self-evident word, its meaning must be raised again.

  • Structural role of this evidence: The fundamental task is not to seek a being greater than the world, but to ask about the intelligibility of “being”.

  • What it does not prove: An ineffable mystical entity cannot be inferred from “hard to define”.

E-02|Being and Time §2

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|disputed|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Every questioning contains what is asked about, what is interrogated and what is sought; questioning itself is a possibility of being of Dasein.

  • Structural role of this evidence: The activity of thought is in turn placed within the ontological framework it studies, a positive clue to self-inclusion.

  • What it does not prove: Methodological self-reference does not automatically prove that its whole structure of completion no longer needs the function of understanding.

E-03|Being and Time §3—4

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Dasein has ontological priority because it always already has some understanding of its own being and the being of others.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It explains why Dasein is the point of entry, rather than assuming that being is created by humans.

  • What it does not prove: Point of entry = Dasein does not mean ground = human knowledge.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original;

E-04|Being and Time §9

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The “essence” of Dasein lies in its existence; it is always “in each case mine” (Jemeinigkeit), with authentic / inauthentic possibilities.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It refuses to define the human being as a set of fixed external properties, stressing possibilities of being.

  • What it does not prove: “In each case mine” does not automatically remove subject-identity or lead to a supra-subjective ①.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-05|Being and Time §12

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Being-in-the-world (In-der-Welt-sein) is a unitary phenomenon; knowing is not building a bridge between two pre-existing ends, subject and object.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It deconstructs the presupposition of an observer standing outside the world; present-at-hand knowing is put back into the more primordial structure of being-in-the-world.

  • What it does not prove: Withdrawing the Cartesian subject—object starting point is not withdrawing all functions of understanding or disclosure.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-06|Being and Time §15—18

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Everyday equipment appears first in readiness-to-hand and a totality of references, not uniformly present as pure objects.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It keeps practice and connection with the world, avoiding equating knowledge with an isolated visual-theoretical act.

  • What it does not prove: The equipmental relation is not the final answer of the history of being.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-07|Being and Time §26—27

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Others always already belong to being-with; “the they” (das Man) determines everyday understanding and being understood.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It positively explains how the public language of thought and social hearing occur in a shared world.

  • What it does not prove: The anonymity of the they cannot be read as a universal ethical devaluation.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-08|Being and Time §29—34

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Attunement (Befindlichkeit), understanding, interpretation and discourse constitute the moments of disclosedness.

  • Structural role of this evidence: Language and understanding are already built into the structure of Dasein; the evidence for self-inclusion does not rest on a single declaration.

  • What it does not prove: It explains how Dasein is disclosed, without proving that this structure still holds completely from outside Dasein.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-09|Being and Time §31—32

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Understanding projects possibilities, interpretation makes explicit what has already been understood; the interpretation of being always has a fore-structure.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It shows that all philosophical interpretation (this book included) is not an independent presuppositionless viewing.

  • What it does not prove: Having a pre-understanding does not mean that arbitrary interpretations are equivalent, nor that the function of right understanding has been deleted.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-10|Being and Time §40

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Anxiety loosens familiar relations of meaning, revealing Dasein’s homelessness and potentiality-for-being.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It dissolves the fixations of everyday meaning, but anxiety is a mode of phenomenological disclosure, not the creation of cosmic being.

  • What it does not prove: A single empirical experience of anxiety is not a once-for-all “ultimate completion” laid down by the author.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-11|Being and Time §44

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|disputed|A (textual structure) / B (interpretation)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Truth is more primordially rooted in Dasein’s disclosedness (Erschlossenheit); the ordinary correctness of propositions is derivative.

  • Structural role of this evidence: §44 grounds propositional truth-as-correspondence in the more primordial Erschlossenheit (disclosedness); this is the openness of being-in-the-world, not the same as some later subject rightly recognizing the highest truth. If disclosedness itself were deleted, a structural-layer break would occur; if only the philosopher’s “right recognition of being” were deleted, one could not yet assert that authenticity or the openness of the world disappears with it.

  • What it does not prove: “There is truth only insofar as Dasein is” does not mean that without Dasein there are no beings; beings / truth must be distinguished.

E-12|Being and Time §45—53

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Being-towards-death shows an irreplaceable possibility of one’s own; death cannot be treated as an experienceable terminal object.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It dismantles the misreading that measures authenticity by a static viewer after completion.

  • What it does not prove: Being-towards-death is not synonymous with “one must rightly see the first ground”.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original;

E-13|Being and Time §60—65

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The call of conscience, resoluteness and temporality elucidate the whole structure of care.

  • Structural role of this evidence: The resoluteness and authenticity of §60—65 involve Verstehen (understanding), the call of conscience and taking over one’s own possibilities; this is ontological / existential understanding, not an independent viewer making a propositional certification of the ground. Deleting this understanding would harm the structure of authentic resoluteness, but does not automatically meet the relation of ultimate completion of “rightly recognizing the ground” that ② requires.

  • What it does not prove: Resoluteness is not a blank cheque for political action;

  • practical and ethical questions need separate checking.

E-14|Being and Time §83

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The end of the published part explicitly keeps the question of being open: the proposal of fundamental ontology remains open to a more fundamental question.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It shows that the core task is the unfolding of a question, and an unfinished project cannot be disguised as a thoroughly closed ①.

22 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • What it does not prove: That the document is unfinished does not make the thought itself ③; placing it at ③ comes from the main task and the structural content, and the two must be kept apart.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-15|On the Essence of Truth (GA9)

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The correctness of propositions rests on openness to beings; freedom / letting beings be as they are is related to unconcealment.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It moves from correct statement to the openness prior to statement, keeping the analysis of the grounding relation of knowledge.

23 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • What it does not prove: “Letting beings be” is not ceasing to criticize every established order.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-16|Letter on Humanism (GA9)

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|disputed|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Language is called the house of being; humans guard, rather than make, the truth of being.

  • Structural role of this evidence: GA9 calls language the house of being, taking the thinker, the poet, speech and dwelling into the structure of belonging-together of “guarding the truth of being”. It is strong local support for ①’s requirement of positive inclusion (a B-grade structural inference), but it also keeps the responsive function of thought and speech;

24 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • it cannot alone prove that the deletion of the cognitive function from the complete structure passes.

  • What it does not prove: Positively including language is still not enough to prove that the complete endpoint is unchanged once all functions of thinking / guarding are deleted.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-17|The Question Concerning Technology (GA7)

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|support|A (textual statement) / B (structural inference)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: The essence of modern technology is not merely machinery, but lies in the mode of revealing determined by enframing (Gestell).

25 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • Structural role of this evidence: It returns to the world of experience and technology, while explaining how a particular historical “mode of manifestation” becomes a dominant structure.

  • What it does not prove: Reflecting on technology is not forbidding all technical artefacts.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

E-18|Time and Being (GA14, 1962)

  • Text level / direction / judgment grade: T1|disputed|A (direction of the proposition) / C (boundary of ①)

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Speaking of “there is / it gives” being and time avoids treating being as a being; Ereignis concerns a giving of belonging-together.

26 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • Structural role of this evidence: GA14 rethinks giving / belonging-together from “Es gibt Sein”, time and Ereignis, rather than with a subject making being. This strengthens the candidacy of speech, thought and the human being for a positive place in the whole; but “giving being” is not synonymous with “no need of response / understanding”, and must still be judged together with the early structure of understanding.

  • What it does not prove: “Giving” is a change in the place of meaning, not complete proof that the human openness / receiving can be deleted.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger5. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Philosophy as metaphysics reaches a kind of completion, while the task of thinking still lies in the primordial relation of the clearing (Lichtung) and concealment.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It shows that the question remains open, not treating the announcement of an “end” as all tasks of thinking having ended.

  • What it does not prove: The clearing is not the same as having obtained a perfect structure that can prove itself apart from the activity of thinking.

  • Edition of the original / limits of verification: Located by section / chapter of the original; the Chinese is research paraphrase, not a verbatim transcription of the original wording.

  • Proposition in the original / verifiable short phrase: Saying (Sagen), hearing and responding belong to a relation of belonging-together; language is not only a tool used by a subject.

  • Structural role of this evidence: It supports the view that thought’s own speech does not stand outside the whole (a candidate for self-inclusion).

  • What it does not prove: This does not cancel the function of right hearing, responding or interpreting in the work of thought.

6. Glossary of Key Terms

Sein/Seiendes: being / beings; not two entities side by side.

Dasein: the being that has an understanding of being; not the same as the Cartesian subject.

30 / 485. Original-Text Evidence Base (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger6. Glossary of Key Terms (cont.)

In-der-Welt-sein: being-in-the-world, cancelling the picture of a pre-existing subject connected afterwards to an external world.

Erschlossenheit: disclosedness / openedness, connected with Dasein’s understanding, attunement and discourse.

Sorge/Zeitlichkeit: care / temporality, the core structure of the early period.

Eigentlichkeit: authenticity: a mode of being that takes over possibilities, not a mystical state of awakening.

aletheia/Unverborgenheit: unconcealment, including manifestation and relating to concealment.

Gestell: enframing: the challenging order of revealing of the technological age.

Lichtung/Ereignis: clearing / Ereignis (event of appropriation, event of belonging-together); ① cannot be judged on the word “event” alone.

7. The Place of the Ground

Positive evidence: §§1—4 set the meaning of being as a question, §44 traces propositional truth back to Dasein’s disclosedness, and GA9/GA14 place language, thought and the giving of being in a relation of belonging-together; each has its own independent T1 source.

31 / 486. Glossary of Key Terms (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger7. The Place of the Ground (cont.)

Limiting evidence: early Dasein’s disclosedness / understanding is a basic ontological condition; later linguistic response also has a substantive function. Neither can be mechanically renamed “right cognition of the ground”, nor simply erased.

Disputed reading: the ① direction points out that thought and speech are already activities within the giving of being / Ereignis; the ② direction stresses the load of understanding in primordial understanding and authentic resoluteness. But the ③ direction holds that the author’s overall main task is still continually transforming the question “how being manifests itself”, rather than giving a single relation in which the ground must be recognized after completion.

Present safest conclusion: the fundamental question is the thinkability of the meaning of being, the clearing of truth and giving; the central task across periods is ③ (B). ①’s first condition, “the positive place of cognition and of thought itself”, has B-grade local support in GA9/GA14 and §2; ①’s second condition does not pass automatically because of this inclusion.

Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger8. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test

8. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test

Already withdrawn / de-substantialized: being = highest thing; a self-sufficient subject first existing and then knowing an external world; truth as mere propositional correspondence; technology as mere neutral machinery.

Core structural load-bearing points: the ontological difference, being-in-the-world, disclosedness and unconcealment, temporality / historicity, the belonging-together of language / thought and the clearing.

Disputed functional load-bearing points: (1) Dasein’s disclosedness and prior understanding; (2) understanding in authentic resoluteness; (3) the philosopher’s right recognition of the ground of being. The three may not substitute for one another.

Single deletion test: delete only the cognitive function “there must additionally be a philosopher / one who completes, rightly recognizing the ground of being”, keeping primordial disclosedness, Dasein’s being-in-the-world, conscience / resoluteness, language / thought and Ereignis. A control test is set separately: what happens if disclosedness itself is deleted? The control test is not the same object of deletion as the criterion for ①/②.

Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger8. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)

What still holds after deletion: the ontological difference, the open possibilities of the early structure of Dasein, the network of practice in the world, the belonging-together of language and being, and the later claims about giving / concealment do not disappear merely because an added “right recognition” is deleted.

Where it breaks after deletion: the research task of philosophy explicitly stating and clarifying the meaning of being is damaged (structural layer, as regards the relation of questioning / elucidation); but there is no T1 ground proving that a unified ultimate completion requiring right knowledge as its condition collapses with it. If disclosedness (Erschlossenheit) were deleted instead, the ground of the occurrence of truth in §44 would break (structural layer), but that is a different object.

Levels of break: an added right recognition: the structural layer of research elucidation; the understanding of being in authentic resoluteness: structural layer; a cognitive “final completion” of being: no final-layer evidence sufficient to establish ②. The question of identity between the periods remains C.

Status within the complete ultimate structure: understanding / disclosedness is part of the ontological relation and cannot be called deletable because it is non-propositional;

34 / 488. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger8. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)

but it is not the same as a cognitive outcome in which the highest ground must be rightly recognized, so overall it is still placed by the task of thought at ③.

Mode of being after completion: no single permanent awakened one is provided; authenticity and the clearing are not the possession of an eternal static knowledge.

The place of thought itself: self-reflexivity = continually questioning the treatment of being as an object; self-inclusion = §2 treats questioning as a comportment of Dasein, GA9/GA14 actively place thought and speech in the belonging-together of being (local B); passing ①’s second condition by deletion has not been proven.

Return: actual everyday equipment, shared life, technology, art and poetic language receive a non-disparaging phenomenal account.

Another reasonable reading: if the later Ereignis is interpreted as a complete occurring that includes all speech / understanding and no longer needs an independent right recognition, a strong ① competing candidate can be formed; but it cannot be derived merely from the meaning of words, nor swapped across periods.

Present safest boundary / grade: ③ (B);

35 / 488. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger8. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)

positive inclusion is a B-grade local inference, while the deletability of cognitive completion and the overall isomorphism of early and late periods both keep C-grade interpretive boundaries.

9. The Place of Thought Itself|Self-Reflexivity and Self-Inclusion

Positive evidence: §2 takes Dasein’s comportment of questioning into Dasein’s mode of being; in §34 discourse belongs to disclosedness; GA9 makes thought and language activities guarding the truth of being, and GA14 makes the belonging-together of human being / thought and giving clearer.

Limiting evidence: this is not a generic statement that “everything is in being”; each text does give a concrete account of relations, but positively placing language does not delete language’s responsive function, nor does it prove that all textual stages share the same structure of completion.

Disputed reading: the early period unfolds the question through Dasein’s understanding, the later explains belonging-together through the giving of being / Ereignis; whether these can be regarded as the same complete mechanism of self-inclusion remains C.

36 / 488. Structural Endpoint and Final Load-Bearing Point|Strict Deletion Test (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger9. The Place of Thought Itself|Self-Reflexivity and Self-Inclusion (cont.)

Present conclusion: self-reflexivity and self-inclusion may not be confused. Questioning, thought and speech receive a B-grade local positive structural placement, and ①’s first condition has substantive support; the complete deletion of the second, “right recognition of the ground”, has not been proven, and the main task is still ③.

10. The Most Delicate Point for This Figure

Positive evidence: Being and Time §44 says primordial truth depends on disclosedness, §60—65 show that resoluteness has the structure of understanding; later, GA9/GA14 make speech belong together with the giving of being.

Limiting evidence: ontological “understanding” is not the right cognition of an ordinary object of knowledge; conversely, that understanding participates in authenticity does not mean all cognitive functions have been deleted.

Disputed reading: the ① reading highlights the later belonging-together and giving, the ② reading highlights the non-deletability of authentic understanding; but both must first prove that they belong to complete ultimate completion, and cannot rest merely on the conceptual similarity of form.

37 / 489. The Place of Thought Itself|Self-Reflexivity and Self-Inclusion (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger10. The Most Delicate Point for This Figure (cont.)

Present conclusion: ③ (B). Heidegger’s method of raising and adjusting the question of being runs through the early and late periods; that the later period gives determinations of the history of being does not mean he stops asking, and under v1.3 ③ includes arguing for, redetermining and continually treating the ground.

11. Six-Position Placement

Current six-position placement: ③ Inquiring into the Ground (B); the evidence for ①’s positive inclusion is fairly strong but the deletion test is incomplete, ② is only a local competitor regarding authentic understanding, and ④’s analysis of technology / history is a direction of application.

Chain of argument that must be read through: the place of the ground → the non-deletable functional load-bearing points → the levels of break after deletion → the positive place of thought itself → the most delicate deciding point → the six-position placement.

Heidegger continually asks “how the meaning of being and its manifestation are possible”; in the early period he proposes a fundamental ontology through Dasein’s being-in-the-world, understanding, temporality and disclosedness;

38 / 4810. The Most Delicate Point for This Figure (cont.)
Thought Archive No.50|Martin Heidegger11. Six-Position Placement (cont.)

in the later period he turns from the unconcealment and concealment of truth to the giving of being, the clearing and Ereignis.

Handling of disputes: a local C does not automatically become a global C; conversely, a main-class B cannot swallow genuine local disputes. T1 does not automatically equal an A-grade interpretation.

12. Highest Achievement

Reopening the difference between “being” and “beings”, placing knowledge, bodily practice, mood, language, being-with, technology and the modes of manifestation of world history within one continuing enquiry, and making his own philosophical speech an object of the question.

  • Counter-question: The giving of being precedes the human being, so Heidegger should belong to ①.

  • Main grounds: GA14, Time and Being.

  • Reply: The later evidence of de-subjectivization is accepted, but “being precedes individual cognition” is not passing the deletion of the function of right cognition; positive inclusion must still be shown and a relation of completion established.

14. Neighbour Comparison

Compared with No.43 Descartes: Heidegger does not ground things on the self-evidence of the cogito, but deconstructs the prior separation of subject and object from understanding in being-in-the-world. With No.51 Wittgenstein (a comparative hypothesis awaiting verification): both subject philosophical language to reflexive constraint, but Dasein’s disclosedness / language-games cannot be directly synonymous. With No.47 Hegel: Hegel’s structural completion of the Idea’s self-knowledge and the continuing openness of Heidegger’s question of being may not be conflated.

15. Final Summary

Heidegger continually asks “how the meaning of being and its manifestation are possible”; in the early period he proposes a fundamental ontology through Dasein’s being-in-the-world, understanding, temporality and disclosedness; in the later period he turns from the unconcealment and concealment of truth to the giving of being, the clearing and Ereignis.

This archive contains no scores or rankings. Nominalization ≠ substantialization, de-subjectivizing cognition ≠ deleting a function; cognition on the path does not necessarily bear load, but if it changes the overall completion it cannot be deleted because it occurs on the path. Self-reflexivity ≠ self-inclusion, and insufficient evidence allows C.

Limits of verification: this archive has checked the key relations of disclosedness, understanding and authenticity in SZ §§44, 60—65, and the sources for language / thought in GA9 and giving in GA14; it does not claim to have completed collation of variants across all authoritative GA editions. Later historical and political judgments do not replace the deletion test of the thought’s ultimacy.

Public Boundaries of Text and Judgment

Textual boundary: the following judgments use only the author’s texts / early witnesses listed in this archive and the corresponding documentary levels; unapproved later interpretations may not replace the original author’s evidence.

Coverage of evidence: 21 E evidence items, 5 R objections; each is governed by its verifiable edition and range of the original.

Interpretive boundary: a structural judgment that has obtained B-grade support is not wholly invalidated by another local C; likewise, a C-grade ambiguity may not be rewritten as a definite defect of the thought.

Comparative boundary: neighbour comparisons count as formal only where the other party’s text has been formally completed and is verifiable; where there is no verifiable formal archive, they are only comparative hypotheses awaiting verification.
