# Hegel（German philosophy）

## Common research question

**What is absolute knowing in Hegel?**

Hegel's absolute knowing is not encyclopedic possession of every fact. In the Phenomenology of Spirit it marks a transformation in the relation between knowing and its object through a sequence of mediated shapes. Its relation to the later Science of Logic requires textual analysis, not a reading of the adjective “absolute” as omniscience.

## Interpretive boundary

Assess completion across mature works without erasing development and tension.
