## Common research question

**How do the One and emanation relate in Plotinus?**

Plotinus' One is presented as a source beyond ordinary being and conceptual determination. Emanation from the One is not the same as an artisan deliberately manufacturing a universe. Intellect, soul, and return belong to the account; the status of union with the One must be tested against the Enneads.
