# Ramana Maharshi（Non-duality）

## Common research question

**What is the purpose of Ramana Maharshi's Who am I inquiry?**

Ramana Maharshi's “Who am I?” does not seek a biography or personality label; it examines the arising of the “I”-thought and identification. Self-inquiry has a methodical role in his teaching. The relation between the self said to be ever-present and its realization must be established from reliable sayings, not one catchphrase.

## Interpretive boundary

Many teachings are disciple-recorded and edited; identify the source and translation.
